The Chimera: Vintage Zolotas Signed Chimera Earrings. The earrings feature round brilliant cut ruby eyes and round brilliant cut natural diamond collar. This pair of Greek made ear clips are by the famed jeweler Zolotas. Crafted from 18 karat yellow gold the clips are in the form of a ‘chimera’ which is a mythological, Greek, fire breathing creature, akin to a lion. Each clip features two rubies as the chimera eyes and a collar of five diamonds to each. The ear clips feature a keyhole clip crafted in 18 karat gold which is working well and is secure. There are small gold plaques attached to the rear of the clips with the makers hallmarks and a gold purity stamp. Zolotas along with Ilias Lalaounis are known for their high quality gold Greek jewelry, typically crafted in high karat gold and often depicting mythological creatures or archaeological revival motifs.
